ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Brenda B. Myers, Founder/CEO
Brenda Myers is the CEO and Founder of Journey Insurance Solutions, LLC, established in 2009. Journey Insurance Solutions is a fast-paced, rapidly growing company that caters to the entire financial needs of its clients. She is a financial broker and insurance agent licensed to do business in Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Taking the knowledge and experience she gained from having worked with some of the best insurance agencies in the industry, she leveraged it and started her own insurance company. Some wondered about the timing for starting a business during the economic decline in 2009, but Brenda realized that there was a need for financial education in her community, so she began her journey toward helping families prepare for their financial futures. Brenda is a published author. She has written two books entitled Making the Decision to Purchase Life Insurance (e-book), and Becoming an Entrepreneur – Learn How to Start and Grow Your Business. She is a Board Member of Dressing for Success, which is an organization that teaches high school boys how to dress for success. She is a member of Women for Progress, which is an organization that promotes cultural advancement and economic development while empowering women through Women's Business & Entrepreneur's Network. She is also a member of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors), and a member of Power to Exhale Central Mississippi Chapter, which is an organization that promotes female empowerment and community service. Brenda has been approved by the Publications’ Board of The Marquis Who’s Who of America 2021- 2022 as a subject of biographical record. She is also a member of the Black Business Directory. Brenda is a mentor with SCORE MS, which is a volunteer program sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration geared toward helping aspiring entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses. She has been featured on radio shows such as Defining Moments with Larry Nicks on WPMP, Metro Morning Live with Rob Jay on WJSU, and the Working Woman’s Report with Women for Progress, MS on Women for Progress Radio. She has also been featured in Woman to Woman the Magazine and SUCCESS magazine. She has served on several panels and platforms such as The Power Up Summit and the Comeback Champion Summit speaking about entrepreneurship and the road to success. She served as a judge at Mississippi Department of Education’s 2019 DECA High School State Conference held in Vicksburg, MS. DECA is an organization that prepares high school and collegiate emerging leaders around the globe for entrepreneurship in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. She was a speaker at the DECA’s 2020 Virtual Fall Conference, where she was invited to speak to students about entrepreneurship and leadership. She is confirmed to conduct two workshops at this year’s DECA Fall Conference to be held at the Convention Center. She believes in giving back to the community by working with charitable organizations such as the RECH Foundation, which helps individuals and families impacted by crime and incarceration, the Dr. Martin Luther King Salute to Greatness cause, and Power to Exhale, a community service organization. She is an advocate for female entrepreneurs and the advancement of small businesses. Her favorite quote is “There are no secrets to success.
